Marissa Armit’s Trip

May 15, 2025 to May 18, 2025
Tijuana, Mexico

Hi everyone! I get the opportunity to participate on a house build mission trip again this May! These mission trips first impacted my life 3 years ago and I couldn't be more grateful for the ways God radically changed my perspective. The donations contribute to the build materials and transportation costs. If you feel lead to donate or ask me more questions, please do!

Update 1

We first arrived around 9am, starting out by praying over the space and preparing ourselves for the build ahead of us for the next two days. Then we dove straight into the work, all of us getting our hands dirty with the different jobs that had to be done. Some of us had never even been involved in construction work let alone picked up a power tool before, but after a little help from those of us who knew what we were doing it went smoothly if I had to say so myself. A group of us working on painting the walls while the others set up the support beams, it was a great day of building over all and by the end of it we got so much accomplished I was actually very surprised with all we managed to set up with only one day of work. And on top of the physical labor that went into the day the most amazing part has to be getting to know my fellow brothers and sisters in christ working along side me during our trip. Getting to know all of them on a personal level is something that I will genuinely cherish the most out of this whole trip, there is something about serving along side fellow christ followers that brings you closer to God in a way that you wouldn't normally get in day to day life and thats something to really appreciate.

Update 2

We had never taken on a project like this before. After the first day of building the structure, we thought day two would be a breeze. But once we got into the details like the roof, the drywall, the windows and doors, the caulking, we realized just how much work was still ahead. It was intense.
But then you stop and look around. Every person, giving their all, pouring sweat and heart into every task. In that moment, it hits you... you can’t help but get teary-eyed and thank God. He brought together the perfect 23 volunteers to accomplish something truly meaningful.
One of the most special moments was when Enrique asked each of us to write our favorite Bible verse inside the walls. It felt like God was speaking through us, filling that space with His Word. It was powerful, something we’ll never forget.
And then came the moment Enrique handed the keys to Pastor Abraham. Just 48 hours earlier, there had been nothing. Now, behind him stood a new, stronger building, ready to serve. Though the building was for someone else, we walked away feeling like we were the ones who had been blessed.
Thank you, ONE&ALL, for making this possible and for allowing us to be part of something so beautiful.

In the morning, we went to visit the families that had their houses built by the church. It was amazing to see how grateful and happy they were to have a house. Seeing where their houses before is eye-opening. Many of them had lived in shacks and put together pieces of styrofoam and other things they could find. They were all so full of gratitude that we came to visit them. Hearing all of their stories about their situations and how a structure changed their life was amazing. In the evening, we went to the neighboring church to have a barbecue with some families. There was a baptism and it was so cool seeing everyone come together to celebrate. The Lord can do amazing things and it was a special experience seeing how powerful he is and how he touches people.
