King Richard | Week 3

King Richard

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

-James 1:2-4

Watching Richard Williams parent changed my parenting at that time. I saw the look on Serena’s and Venus’s faces. They had like the faces of lions, extremely confident and so comfortable that their father was not gonna let anything bad happen to them.

-Richard Williams

The reason I took Venus and Serena out of Jr. Tennis is because I saw kids from the best neighborhoods, like Beverly Hills, with broken wrists. I’ve seen kids get pushed and damaged. You see kids that are told they are nothing. That’s past extreme. Is it worth it to have fame, money, and lose your child? No. I’ve seen too many parents out here lose their relationship with their kids. Family is everything.

-Richard Williams

In the formative years, you are creating the hard drive of a computer that will govern all incoming data for the rest of their lives.

What words are you speaking to your children?

What are you writing on their walls?

-Matthew 16:26

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

-Philippians 4:13

King Richard created confidence in the lives of Venus and Serena by reminding them that they were already winners because they were loved, accepted by, and belonged in, the Williams family.

A person’s self-concept is determined by what he thinks the most important person in his life thinks about him.

-Charles Tooley

What end goal does your life communicate to your kids?

And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.'

-Matthew 3:17

What disciplines should you encourage in your children?

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
