What Are You Full Of?

7 Biblical feasts ... 4 in the Spring, 3 in the Fall

All of them are of vital importance in the story of God's redemption for all mankind.

1. Remind us of what God has done in the PAST.

2. Show us what God wants for our PRESENT.

3. And PROPHESY about where everything is headed in the future.

What does the bread represent?

PAST

Fleeing enslavement in Egypt with haste

PROPHETICALLY

The Feast of Unleavened Bread pointed to Jesus. He is the literal embodiment of unleavened bread.

PRESENT

... because leaven represents SIN

Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

-1 Corinthians 5:8

Jesus said to them, 'Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.'

-Matthew 16:6

Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?

-1 Corinthians 5:6

Sin doesn’t make you bad … It makes you dead.”

For the wages of sin is death.

-Romans 6:23

What’s the answer?

SALVATION

“This is my body, broken for you.”

By his stripes we are healed.

-Isaiah 53:5

He was pierced for our transgressions.

-Isaiah 53:5

Jesus didn’t come primarily to bring bread but to BE bread.

-John Piper

Jesus says “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again.”

So far we’ve talked about Sin and Salvation, but now we’re going to talk about another “S” word: SANCTIFICATION.

SANCTIFICATION

Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.

-Matthew 5:48

Spring-cleaning is rooted in the Feast Unleavened Bread.

According to Exodus 12:15, all leaven was to be removed from the home.

They don’t just find the sin, and deal with the sin. They put it to death!

Sanctification is becoming more and more like Jesus.
