The Power of Community | Week 1
In talking about the POWER of Christian Community, we need to go back … All the way back … to the very beginning
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth and all that was within them…
He created the birds of the air…
He created the beasts of the fields…
And then … at the pinnacle of creation, he created MAN!
Then God said, 'Let US make mankind in OUR image, in OUR likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'
-Genesis 1:26 NIV
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit… 3 persons… 1 God
A Community of Unity
God the Father perfectly loves God the Son who perfectly loves God the Holy Spirit ...
... who honors God the Father who honors God the Son who honors God the Holy Spirit ...
... who glorifies God the Father who glorifies God the Son who glorifies God the Holy Spirit
And it is from this Community that you were created
1 - You are created FROM Community.
2- You are created FOR Community.
Community Value… “If you wanna go fast, go alone. If you wanna go far, go together.”
The LORD God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone.'
So what did He do? He created woman. God makes man a partner, companion, helpmate. It's not good for us to be alone.
If there was EVER a year we needed Community more than ever, it was 2020!
In 2020, we saw the Community of ONE&ALL Church engaged like never before!
In community you get to really become a Christian.
When we exercise the “ONE ANOTHERS” of scripture, we get to put our faith into action.
#1 - Bear One Another’s Burdens
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
-Galatians 6:2 ESV
Every story has a name, every story matters to God.
#2 - Pray for One Another
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
-James 5:16 NIV
#3 - Forgive One Another
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
-Colossians 3:13 NIV
#4 - Accept One Another
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
-Romans 15:7 NIV
#5 - Love One Another
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
-John 13:34 NIV
3 - THROUGH the context of Community you are TRANSFORMED.
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. They committed themselves to the Word of God.
