Going for Gold in Life

We love winning. Winning feels so good, no matter the endeavour.

Losing on the other hand is sad.

But there’s something worse than losing ... Disqualification

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

-1 Corinthians 9:24-27

How many great leaders, who we thought would never be disqualified, have fallen?

There is a way to live, with discipline to make sure you will not be disqualified!!

So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

-Romans 14:12

Everyone will give an account to God for their life.

Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.' And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

-Psalm 32:1-6

God wants to convict you, forgive you, and free you.

Satan wants to accuse you, guilt you and shame you.

When you move toward God, you find relief, forgiveness, gentleness, and grace.

Individualism tells you that no one has a right to tell you what to do. But wisdom recognizes that the BODY of Christ, the local church, is the structure set up by JESUS to help you experience GOD'S KINGDOM.

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

-Ephesians 4:15-16

If you commit to being the church with a group of people, the way the Bible says, your life will be blessed.

Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

-Hebrews 13:17

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

-1Thessalonians 5:12-13

The church gives direction for your life, based on God’s word, not the culture's excesses

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

-James 5:16

With God we find relief and forgiveness but with each other there is a chance we will find healing.

My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

-James 5:19-20

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

-Proverbs 27:17

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

-1 Thessalonians 5:11

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

-Galatians 6:1-2

We are able to encourage each other and help each other.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

-Hebrews 10:23-25

Accountability isn’t just about removing sin, it’s about fulfilling God’s mission.

You won’t be disqualified, Rather you will find ultimate RELIEF, DIRECTION, FREEDOM, and SUCCESS
