Our Journey Home

1. OUR JOURNEY HOME IS A JOURNEY OF FAITH

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building of God, an eternal house in heaven, not built with human hands.

-2 Corinthians 5:1

Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put into prison. They were stoned, they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted, and mistreated- the world was not worthy of them.

-Hebrews 11:36-38

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

-Romans 8:26

2. OUR JOURNEY HOME IS A JOURNEY WHERE ALL THINGS ARE NEW

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Romans 6:1-4

Live such good lives among the pagans, that though they may accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

-1 Peter 2:12

3. OUR JOURNEY HOME IS A JOURNEY OF ENDURANCE

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, for the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge, will award me on that day---and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

-2 Timothy 4:6-7
