There Will Be Blood

Devotional Thought

Revelation 13 paints a sobering picture of spiritual deception, worldly power, and false allegiance. John describes the dragon, the beast from the sea, and the beast from the earth as forces that oppose God and seek to draw people away from truth and worship of Christ. Throughout history, governments, ideologies, and religious systems have often attempted to take the place that belongs only to God. The danger for believers is not merely persecution, but deception—things that appear good, reasonable, or even spiritual while ultimately leading people away from Jesus.

One of the strongest themes in this message is the importance of discernment. The beast from the earth “looked like a lamb, but spoke like a dragon.” Satan often works through counterfeits. He imitates truth in order to confuse people and gain their allegiance. This is why believers must remain deeply rooted in God’s Word and centered on the gospel. A shallow faith becomes vulnerable to compromise, fear, and confusion.

At the same time, Revelation reminds us that Christ is still victorious. Those who belong to Him are sealed by God, redeemed by the Lamb, and called to follow Him faithfully regardless of cultural pressure or spiritual opposition. Our hope is not found in governments, movements, or human systems, but in Jesus alone. As followers of Christ, we are called to stand firm in truth while responding to others with humility, compassion, and love.
