There Will Be War

Devotional Thought

Revelation 20 is often approached with questions about the end times, Armageddon, and the final judgment. Yet one of the most surprising themes in this chapter is not fear, but hope. The sermon highlights that Satan is limited in his power and cannot stop the advance of God's kingdom or the spread of the gospel. Christ has already secured the victory through His death and resurrection, and believers are called to live in that victory today.

The passage reminds us that those who belong to Christ have experienced a "first resurrection"—they have been made spiritually alive through faith in Jesus. While the world may drift along according to its own values, followers of Christ have been awakened to a new life, a new purpose, and a new King. We are not merely waiting for Christ to reign someday; we are called to serve as His representatives now, sharing His truth and extending His kingdom wherever He has placed us.

The message of Revelation is ultimately not that evil wins a few battles before the end. It is that Jesus wins. The final chapters remind us that grace is available today, but judgment is coming. Therefore, believers are called to live faithfully, stand confidently, and help others discover the hope that is found only in Christ.

Action Step

This week, identify one person in your circle of influence who may be far from God. Pray for them by name each day, asking God to open their heart to the gospel. Look for an opportunity to share your testimony, invite them to church or a small group, or simply begin a spiritual conversation about who Jesus is and what He has done in your life. As you do, remember that the gospel is advancing and Christ is already victorious.
