Our Mission

What is our mission at ONE&ALL Church?

ONE&ALL's mission is to see those who are far from God, come near to God.

This week we’re going to see the importance of intentionally sharing our faith, that good news with people who don’t know the Lord.

Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, 'This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.'

-Luke 15:1-2

What the Pharisees intended as a put-down of Christ, in essence was really a compliment to him. He welcomes everyone.

Jesus tells THREE Parables - these EARTHLY stories with HEAVENLY meaning.

Then Jesus told them this parable: 'Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?'

-Luke 15:3-4

If a sheep gets lost, he's a goner! Unless somebody comes and finds him and rescues him and brings him back.

And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

-Luke 15:5-7

When something that is LOST, is found, there is JOY. There’s a celebration!

Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

-Luke 15: 8-10

Isn’t it cool that our decisions on earth can bring joy in Heaven?

If OUR MISSION is to see those who are far from God, come near to God… then we’re going to have to take 3 ACTIONS.

1. Look for the lost

The difference between someone who is Saved and someone who is Lost, is that the saved person has swallowed their pride and humbly admitted their need for a Savior, and allowed Jesus to BRIDGE that chasm of sin.

For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.

-Luke 19:10

I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.

-John 14:6

You see people don’t need to be TOLD they’re going to Hell, they need to be SHOWN how to get to Heaven.

Look for those opportunities to faithfully plant seeds with strangers and with friends, look for opportunities knowing that God will give the increase.

You will never reap a harvest if you never plant a seed.

2. Listen to the lost

One of the keys to sharing your faith is LISTENING.

I have discovered that people will most often, come to love us, before they love our Savior. So, let's give them what so few people will, our time, our hearts, our listening ears.

-Roberta Kuhne

LISTEN for the Lost, because it allows you to Share Boldly

3. Love the lost

It’s almost as if there is a progression that’s taking place. Well, ONE out of a HUNDRED animals is important. So, how much more so is ONE out of TEN coins? So, of course, how much more so is ONE out of TWO sons.

So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

-Luke 15:20

The Father shows us HOW we are to LOVE through offering grace & forgiveness. Love opens the door for us to share the gospel.

Love talked about is easily ignored, but love demonstrated is irresistible.

-Cal Thomas

The highest motivation, for sharing your faith is LOVE.

This is the place where the hurting can come. This is the place where the wounded can heal. This is the place where the suffering are welcome.

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

-1 Peter 3:15

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

-John 3:16

May this be your motto: I'm just a nobody, trying to tell everybody, about somebody who can save anybody.
