Who We Are

Key Scripture: John 14:6-7

As part of ONE&ALL Church, it is essential to understand who we really are.

On one hand—the vision for God’s church has never changed.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

-Matthew 28:18b-20

The first thing you need to know about ONE&ALL Church is that we believe One Savior Died for All People.

Jesus Answer:

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.

-John 14:6-7

What does all that mean?

The “Religious” system as a way to heaven does not work.

We like the “Religious system” because:

1. We think it’s fair.

2. We always make the cut.

3. It motivates us to do good.

4. It is consistent with our idea of who we want God to be.

The “Good People Go to Heaven” system is logical, practical, easy to buy into. Unfortunately, it is deeply flawed.

First:

There is no clear direction concerning, “How Good is Good enough.” In fact, the Bible teaches:

“All have fallen short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23

“There is no one righteous, not even one.” Rom. 3:10

“Therefore, no one will be declared righteous by observing the law.” Rom. 3:20

“Rather through the law we become conscience of sin.” Rom. 3:20

Second:

There is no clear direction concerning the curve or cut line.

If one can be saved by relative righteousness, why did God determine that the blood of His own son would atone for the sins of the world?

What is the message of the Gospel?

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

-Romans 3:20-26

Moralism the number one enemy to the cross.

Moralism is a type of anti-Christ that attempts to deemphasize the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ while reemphasizing the goodness of man.

Point of all of this?

ONE&ALL operates out of the belief that Jesus and Jesus alone:

1. Saves us from our sins — connects us to God.

2. Gives us the truth about all things — our sexuality, our identity, our money and resources, and our meaning and purpose for living.

3. Most importantly — the way to the father — and a kingdom that will last forever.

However, we believe that although the mission never changes, culture determines that we work very hard—in conjunction with the Spirit of God—to contextualize the Gospel into cultural context.

We do not water down the Gospel to make it more palpable to the current generation.

We stand against abortion — same-sex marriage — adultery---fornication — and all sexual sins. We do so because Jesus did so.

However -- we also stand against the kind of spiritual arrogance that says we are better than everyone else and we have no sin in our lives.

When we proclaim the Gospel, we do so out of humility and the realization that we are sinners saved by grace.

Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

-Romans 3:27-28

As you begin to understand who we are at ONE&ALL, you must begin with these three truths:

One: Jesus is the only way to God. Period.

Two: No one, absolutely no one, is so far from God that they can’t be reached.

Three: Compassion for One and All is perhaps the most effective means of communicating the Gospel in our time and in this place.

In a culture like this, there will be many who begin to realize the importance of truth and eternity.

Will the church be poised and ready to give an answer for the hope that we have?

How does it position itself? Compassion.

You live the kind of life that communicates care and concern for everyone, not just your kind.

We will lean into the truth of the Gospel with a love so powerful that people will need an explanation of the hope that is within us just to make sense out of our inexplicable lives.
