An Attitude of Gratitude

It’s not always easy having an attitude of gratitude, especially when life’s throwing you curveballs left and right. Trust me, I get it.

But there’s one thing I know for sure, developing an attitude of gratitude helps to not let your circumstances define you, and it can make your days more enjoyable. Most importantly, God asks us to be glad! (see Psalm 118:24)

Here are a few ways you can develop an attitude of gratitude:

1. Thank God Daily

Everything we have is a gift from God, from the breath in our lungs to where we lay our head at night, our jobs, the food we eat, the mind we have, the beautiful sky, and everything in between. Truly, He owes us nothing, yet He gives and gives and gives. Show God your gratitude by giving Him praise. Say it out loud, write it down, sing it, and turn it into a daily conversation.

2. Bless Others

In blessing others who are in need, it can really change your perspective. Whether that’s with your time, money, resources, acts of kindness, or words, you will find a sense of purpose. You get to be part of life change and inspiring others to pay it forward.

3. Community

Spending time with your loved ones will only strengthen the relationship and remind you of how blessed you are. You can then practice an attitude of gratitude by showing them or telling them how much they mean to you. It can be as simple as complimenting them on their outfit, helping them carry in the food, offering to make them a cup of coffee or being a better listener.

4. Remember The Journey

Sometimes looking back to remember how far you’ve come, refocuses the gratitude of the now. The contrast between life events will give you hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and what God did before, He can do again!

Here’s to practicing gratitude and letting God’s joy shine through you!
